MPs prepare to debate whiplash reforms
MPs have been warned by APIL that Government proposals to introduce a tariff for whiplash damages will result in under-compensation. In a briefing which has been sent to MPs ahead of a debate on the Prisons and Court Bill, APIL has branded the amounts of the tariff as derisory and offensive. The false premise for the reforms has also been challenged. The briefing highlights the increase in insurance premiums despite legal reforms which have resulted in the cost of personal injury claims being cut.
